How to type
Put your cursor in the box and type as you would on a Bamini typewriter. Each key gives the letter shown on the chart: j is த, k is ம, ; adds the pulli. The text in the box is already Unicode, so Copy puts real Tamil letters on your clipboard.
- ெ ே ை first: type the sign, then the letter. The sign waits on a dotted circle (◌ெ) until you type the letter.
- ொ ோ ௌ: front part, letter, back part. கொ is n f h.
- Backspace takes back one key, not one letter: from கொ it goes back to கெ, then to ◌ெ.
- On a phone or tablet, tap the on-screen keys. Use Shift for the top-right letters, or tick Shift view to see them all.

Practice mode
Switch to Practice, choose a passage and a time (1, 5 or 10 minutes), and start typing. The timer starts with your first key. Correct letters turn dark, mistakes are underlined in red, and the next letter to type is highlighted.
Speed is counted in words per minute: the words you typed divided by the minutes taken. Accuracy is the share of letters that match the passage. There are five passages, including an office leave letter in the style used for government typing practice.

Tips for typing tests
- Get accuracy right first. Speed follows once your fingers stop hunting for keys.
- Learn the vowel-sign order until it is automatic. Typing ெ after the letter is the most common beginner mistake.
- Practise with a timer every day, even 10 minutes. Short daily sessions beat one long one each week.
- Keep your eyes on the passage, not the keyboard. Print the keyboard chart and pin it beside the screen while you learn.
- Check the exact rules of your exam, such as time, passage length and how errors are counted, in its official notification.

No. This page turns each key into the right Tamil letter itself, and the result is Unicode, which every phone and computer can show. You only need the Bamini font if you want Bamini output for PageMaker or CorelDRAW; use Convert to Bamini for that.

Can I type on my phone?கைப்பேசியில் தட்டச்சு செய்ய முடியுமா?
Yes. On a phone or tablet the page hides your normal keyboard and you tap the Bamini keys on screen instead. Tap Shift once for a top-right letter, or tick Shift view to see all of them. For real exam practice, a physical keyboard is still better.

How are speed and accuracy worked out?வேகமும் துல்லியமும் எப்படிக் கணக்கிடப்படுகின்றன?
Speed is the number of words you typed divided by the minutes since your first key. Accuracy compares your text with the passage letter by letter and shows the share that match. A vowel sign that is still waiting for its letter is not counted as a mistake.
